I have such a weakness for fantasy/gods/mythological/etc. AUs. Ah, I love the way you weaved in the multiple back stories going on here. For a while, I was wondering who Fai really was (and how strange it was that Kurogane didn't pick up right away or was not bothered that something's reaaaaly strange about him if he has great "intuition" and can cast powerful ward reinforcements, but then again, each Kurogane is different). One of the most interesting things I liked was how the Princess of the Sun and Princess of the Moon are two different entities, but takes over at their irrespective day and night time.
But I think who I really enjoyed the most (aside from Fai and Kurogane) was your AU!Ashura. Finally, an Ashura who doesn't end up harming himself and Fai more; who steps in and reassures Fai that he will find salvation and happiness someday.
