Why don't we get to know each other a bit? Styles, preferences? Anything that might come up? Maybe predicted schedules for the writing and posting period in case someone needs to step in?

Bubblegum icecream!

This is a cool (pun very intended) idea. Why didn't anyone think of this before?

The kind with actual bits of bubblegum in it? I like cotton candy ice cream, myself. Just because it's always so colourful.

I figure that, if we're all going to be on a team, then we should chat a bit!

Bits of bubblegum and more. Honestly, not my favorite taste but I always had it in elementary and the taste brings back sweet memories. Cotton candy has the same sweetness and is good too. BTW ever heard of blue moon ice cream. It's a Midwest regional flavor, if you want to call it a flavor. Every region has slight variations, and I was told it was supposed to taste like cotton candy. Liars, it taste like a whole tub of freezer burnt ice cream leftovers! Never thought I could hate ice cream so much.

Anyone have a specific reason for team sci fi? I really like both sci fi and fantasy. I was pretty sure more people were comfortable with fantasy though.

I picked sci-fi because I like the challenge. I've also been writing a lot of fantasy-based things lately and thought I needed a personal switch-up. Not an easy decision, since the most comfortable I actually get with technology involves swearing at my ipod when it doesn't co-operate.

A combination of reasons. Sci Fi is challenging, especially if you are a very detail oriented writer. It is also fun too. With Sci Fi, I prepare to write about fic with research and I like finding facts that support that this universe is just as unbelievable as fiction.

What really sold me was Faren calling it "Sci-Fai" on tumblr. I am weak to puns. XD

p.s: if I hadn't been chairing I would have totally picked Team Sci Fai too.

Coffee ice cream! But mint chocolate chip is great too.

I'm job searching at the moment (and might have something good happening? maybe) but I don't foresee any problems coming up. If anything does, I'll let you all know!

I have never-- and will probably keep it that way-- had blue moon ice cream.

Though, chocolate ice cream and orange soda for a float is surprisingly yummy!

I adore both genres, but I've written a lot of fantasy and not very much sci-fi (which is odd because I'm a scientist), so I figured it was about time I took a stab at it.

Hard science sci-fi? Like Star Trek and Star Wars?
Speculative fiction like Frankenstein was?
Sci-fi fusion like Firefly?
Soft sci-fi like Buffy (4th season, with the military stuff)?

I'm sure there are better examples, but I'm half asleep and at work.

I think Supernatural-- the show-- is more along the lines of gothic fantasy. Like Neil Gaiman's American Gods and Neverwhere. Urban dark fantasy.

I picked sci-fi for similiar reasons to aithilin; the challenge. It's not something I've done a lot of before, as I tend to lean towards fantasy. But I'm very excited to experiment with it :)

So far my plot ideas are shaping up to be speculative sci fi, or near modern technology taken a bit further and the effects of that. I guess. This is new to me.

Also, I'm just jumping into people's conversations, sorry about that!

Stepping Down

I really am sorry for doing this, but there is no way that I'll be able to have anything for either of the posting dates offered at this time.

Cloverfield has been made aware of what is going on behind the scenes that is causing my personal delays, and I am really sorry at how last minute this is.

When I signed up for the competition, I didn't anticipate my own life offline going to hell so quickly. As you never can. And I'm really sorry that I can't follow through on this competition, because it looked, and started off, a lot of fun.

But I just can't do it now. And I'm sorry.
