IM SO GLAD KUROGANE PUNCHED TOUYA. HES SUCH A SHIT. I was half expecting an omake or something about Fai getting a prosthetic or finally getting off, poor baby. I've been reading this for the past few hours and it's just very well developed and I enjoyed it. I wish there had been a bit more explanation on what had happened to Fai even though it's fairly obvious in context.

And I enjoyed you slipping in Aqaurius Galaxy in there too. ❤️

I love this fic! You had me crying like a baby.
I haven't been able to stop reading until I got to the end. I love how you managed to keep Sakura and Xiaolang's personalities even if they are AIs. Also, the tech bits were pretty believable. Oh! And Kurogane singing along the music and watching anime <3

I really enjoyed how you handled the scifi element with characters used to a different type of setting. Lil droid Sakura and Syaoron are precious babies, Fai's struggle to rediscover his reason for living and a added one, and Kurogane's gruffness is lovely. I think it took me a bit of time to picture Kurogane as a scientist though for most of the story, though the answer of the cure of the rust is absolutely hilarious.

I really enjoyed this so much. It was a brilliant read, though there are a couple of little loose ends of love to see addressed, but definitely one I'll be reading again in the future!

7 - You definitely nailed Fai and the kids, but I found early Kurogane somewhat jarring, and his bigoted fixation on all AIs as evil seemed like a stretch to me. Touya was far off to me too, despite the premise of his sister in this universe dying, it was a bit much to me.

10 - quite literally! ((Though I didn't see much of 'Team Dark' within this fic. Clearly the rust was meant to apply to that, but it was a little abstract for me I guess!))

3. How much did you enjoy this fic overall?

9.5 - The early Kurogane characterization had me pretty disengaged from the story, but by chapter 3 or so the mystery of the rust had me invested in the story finally. I really admired the thoroughness of the lab science! I don't know enough to say it was 100% legit, but you wrote with such confidence about compounds and chemistry that I would definitely believe you have a background in chemistry IRL. Loved it! Great story structure, and again the characterizations were the only things that jarred me out of immersion.

While my personal philosophy is that we are all going to write characters differently and thus I think it would be better to rate characterization in itself, if I'm gonna go with in-character I would go with a 9. There are only two things coming to mind that seemed unrealistic or just not ventured into that much... Touya's extreme hatred of Fai is still sort of a mystery to me (if you ever wanted to go back into this story, I'd love to have this dynamic explored!), since it doesn't have enough of a context IMO. Aside from that, I wanted to see (maybe) flashbacks of Kurogane with his family in the past, since his hatred of AIs comes from the loss of his family. Because we really only "see" them as a vague thought, I think it's harder to relate to his feelings on that front. BUT!
I enjoyed your characterizations a lot. I rooted for these people. Well, you can see comment on your fic to hear my whole reaction lol.

I wasn't sure how this was gonna happen, but you handled it super well. By having droids be a commonplace thing in this universe, the quote made sense, and not even in an ironic/joking way.

This was a thrill to read. I do think the beginning was a little slow, but once the action was happening, the pacing was perfect. I still can't get that intense scene out of my head! With them tackling! Ahh. Great job n____n

Kurogane seemed a bit out of character in the beginning. I would say for the first few chapters he reminded me of how angry he was in the very beginning of the series, before the group became important to him and back when he liked killing things. The way his feelings towards AIs changed seemed almost forced to me, but I suppose it was similar to how his personality shifted in the series.

It fit wonderfully but I was missing the Team Dark aspect. I had to think pretty hard to get that it could either be the rust or the dark-ish undertones to the character’s feelings throughout the story.

3. How much did you enjoy this fic overall? (1-10) 8
The beginning was a bit slow for me but it was all important for character and world building. There seemed to be some pieces missing throughout the story and the ending seemed a bit rushed. Even so, I enjoyed the story. All of your unique little touches were wonderful. I loved the idea of Kurogane singing along (off key) to music in the lab and being addicted to anime! How the cure to the rust was found and what the cure ended up being was one of my favorite parts in the whole story!

My excitement to read this fic was buoyed all the way to the very end of it - I really really enjoyed reading this! The world building is beautiful and wonderfully visceral - gosh, all the backstory that was packed into this - and there is just so! much! feels!! And of course sorta!unreasonably!aggressive Touya is endlessly amusing!
