2013 Spring Olympics: Re-schedule & Extension requests

We had a couple people PM me recently to let me know they wouldn't be able to participate - for varying reasons, all quite good! Pinch-hitters were informed & are up to the task, so everything's super! Since pinch-hitters require extra time, the posting schedule has been reshuffled slightly to accommodate them, affecting everyone. *hands* Hi my name is Chloe and I'm an idiot because I started writing a multiparter so an extension would be nice... I could probably get it all done as it stands now but extra time would mean that I can actually edit and polish it. Also I think it's only fair for the pinch-hitters. ♥

(Also I understand what they are in the context of the contest, but can someone explain to me what a "pinch-hitter" actually is, because I do not have that word in my Strayan vocab.)

I realised at about 1000 words in that this would be a multi-parter. ^^; Also, that the rating is more teen-friendly than I normally achieve, so that's another thing that's different about this olympics for me!

Thank you, but I already understand this bit. What I want to know is the etymology of the term "pinch-hitter"; while I understand its use in this context as a synonym for understudy, I am not familiar with the term itself.

Gyah, writing wrong definition. Again. Bad brain. Sorry. In baseball, it is a person who replaces a hitter when the ball is dead -not in play-, in cricket, a batsman promoted up in the batting order to score quick runs, and in aviation, a non-pilot who has gone through minimal training to land a plane.

I'm decently on track with mine, but I definitely wouldn't be against a nice extension. I think this is going to be another one of those fics that needs some quality time with the Editing Hatchet. (As long as the new posting date's not later than the end of March? This is going to sound terribly dramatic, but I'm having surgery on April 2 so obviously posting anything that week would not be feasible for me ^_^;;)

Not as hardcore as it sounds, trust me ^_^;; I'm actually going to be donating a kidney to my mom, so my main issue right now is nerves and writing helps chill me out. (And I'm weirdly looking forward to the recovery time, because it means 4-6 weeks off of work. One of the advocates I had to talk to was telling me about how sometimes donors get bored and depressed during the recovery time and did I think I would have that problem and the whole time I was thinking 'Oh man I can get so much fic writing done and maybe work on some art and my anime backlog! I can get through my anime backlog at last!' Priorities, I has them.)

Still, that is high up there in terms of major and minor surgery! I've had my share of being nervous before surgeries and dealing with recoveries afterwards. It's good you know how to occupy yourself for those weeks~

Um, as far as I'm concerned donating an organ to someone in need is pretty damn hardcore. You're kind of amazing, did you know that? *___* My mum is missing a kidney too, so I've always been aware that one day I may be called upon to donate, but to know someone who's actually doing that is just... wow.

Ahahaha, at least you have plenty of things to keep you occupied in your convalescence \o/ May your pillows be comfy, your muse cooperative, and your anime marathon uninterrupted!

Extensions are made of SHINY and would be petted and loved?

Unlike my currently wordless fic which has three scenes and about half a theme ('Kurogane and Fai are Awesome', being a given, doesn't count. Or it would be one and a half themes. XD) but refuses to hand over its PLOT. *waves sword menacingly at fic*

Also, anyone know offhand - or dare flicking through (I daren't because I will reread and I do NOT have the time XD) to find out - where Yuuko talking about Fai and vampireness and the return of his magic is, and where the explanation about the two sides/eyes (heh) to Fai's magic is, precisely? In terms of which volume? (I have the Japanese manga, but I don't think it makes a difference, right?) Ah, and the bit after the library where he explains briefly (or doesn't XD) how cheating by whistling works? Basically ~anything Fai has said about the nature of magic he can use~. Because seriously, if I get more than three volumes off the shelf, I am doomed, and apparently I want to check I am being ~precise~ about things...

Yuuko talks about Fai and his vampire status in Volume 17. Fuuma explains to everyone about Fai's eyes and magic in Volume 23 (you can read the quote here). I believe at the end of Volume 14 is when Fai goes 'whistling is a different type of magic~'.

Not sure if this helps or any, location-wise, chapter 107, on page 4, Mokona is asking Fai about him saying he'd never use magic again and Fai said "Hmm-- To compare their natures, this is different from the magic i had used before now." "magic that uses sound, this is a different type from what I frequently used before."
At least according to my scans.

QAAAQ so many things cropped up in RL unexpectedly and I need to do a lot of travelling to settle them unfortunately, which makes it hard for me to keep track with my writing.
