2015 KuroFai Olympics - Writer Check Point!

Hello all! This is not so much an official rules post or anything super serious than it is a friendly, how-are-you-all-going? post! I just wanted to check in with everyone, and make sure we're all a) enjoying ourselves and b) doing okay when it comes to writing stuff.

It's been about a week since the prompts were handed out, and nearly a week since the writing "officially" started (though if you are anything like me last year, you probably got started as soon as you had your prompt) and I thought it might be nice for everyone to check in and drop a quick line about their progress, even if that line is just whimpering about how words are hard and/or lying on the ground hoping your fanfic will write itself.

As always, I'm totally happy to help anyone out as a beta/soundboard, and I'm also happy to answer any questions you might have as your writing goes on, and I know your teammates will be too!

Shh, it is never too late to start fresh if you need to! And remember, we tend to view our own words as less wonderful then they are, like the opposite of rose tinted glasses. Listen to your beta, they will steer you right, and remember your teammates are here to help!

I've been sick lately and for some reason I'm writing backwards (congratulations, me, on finishing the epilogue and +1 part without starting the fic), but I've still got optimism!

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that you're sick, and I hope you feel better soon. Ahaha, I write backwards too, and sideways and all over the place if we're honest (I can't write in a straight line to save my life) but I have high hopes for you and wish you the best of luck!

Probably about halfway through but I need to rewrite the entire opening part. I finally got a good handle on exactly what I want to write though so hopefully the second half will be easier to write than the first (and then...editing).

That's excellent to hear! Your rival cloverflynn has unfortunately had to drop-out of the contest, but mikkeneko has stepped in to take her place and post on the pinch-hitter day of the 9th of June. You'll be the only one posting on the 2nd, so best of luck!

Not doing so hot on my end.

I have no ideas and too much going on. I'm not really much of a writer so I need a lot of free time to really think about what I want to do and I just haven't gotten any of that. :'(

Don't panic- we're all here to help! If you need help with ideas, try talking to your teammates, or your friends, and I'm always here to chat with as well.

You're not alone, and we're all behind you, and we're here to support you every step of the way!

On the same boat as arisprite. Ridiculously swamped with work stuff (plus having booked Saturdays doesn't help ^^;;)

But I should be able to write on weeknights soon! And next Monday Koi and I are gonna kick each other ass to write, write, write while she's still in town.

Aww, that sucks. I'm sorry you're so busy. But I like the idea of you having a cheer squad where you push each other onwards! GO GO GO, WRITE WRITE WRITE!

Also, as you're one of our first posters, if you think you'll need an extension, do let me know- if a few people ask for one, I'll be happy to push back the starting date by a week or so.

I literally just saw this post now and probably need it to lean on, bahahah. Uni is gonna be a killer this sem but it's still week 1 so nothing's really happening yet... 4 presentations due in like the 6 weeks following though. Hurrah.

ANYWAY I feel like I'm going to need a beta. When I get this thing done, would any of the not-competitors be willing? It would be sooo appreciated. I'm like 2500 words in and still expecting 8k-10k, so I have a lot to do but hopefully this weekend, with no assignments and long-term guests gone home, I can get some stuff done.
