2015 KuroFai Olympics - Team Sci Fi Team Meeting
Hey there, Team Sci Fi. I'm calling this team meeting as, due to unforeseen circumstance,
aithilin has had to drop out of the contest, which leaves us with a gap in the posting schedule. As per the rules of the contest, if no one posts on an allocated day, the score for that day is zero.
Now, I don't want to give a zero to anyone, so I'm hoping we can come up with a solution. In years previous, when we have had a last minute drop-out and no available pinch-hitter to write a full length fic to fill in the gap, we've had another participant jump in with a super-quick mini-fill; not a full length fic (four days is a bit too short for that), but just something so that there is no day that goes without a fic posted up, and so that no team earns a zero for any of their scores.
Filling in gaps is especially important this year, as due to the amount of juggling we've had with pinch-hitters stepping in, our schedule is looking a bit messy, and there are a few days where only one team is scheduled to post;
aithilin 's day, being on Tuesday the 16th for the prompt Cafe, is one of these, as the corresponding fic for Team Fantasy is being pinch-hitted by
mikkeneko , and they're posting on the 23rd, leaving that day blank in the Team Fantasy roster. Blank days are not good; they're unfair to the writers who worked so hard, and to our readers and voters. It's also very easy for a contest to lose momentum in terms of voting, so I'd like to avoid a blank day if at all possible.
Since this affects the whole team, I thought it would be best if we all got together to decide what to do. The idea I have is this: if there is anyone from Team Sci Fi who feels comfortable whipping up a super-quick fic for the cafe prompt, even just a one-scene wonder, to be posted on the 16th, could you please put your hand up and volunteer?
farenmaddox has tentatively put her hand up to do so, but seeing as she's already writing as a pinch-hitter, I wanted to check and see if anyone else felt comfortable jumping in. If you don't think you can do so, that's completely fine; I know it's hard enough to write one fic for a prompt, let alone two for two very different prompts and at very short notice.
If no one can step in,
farenmaddox will write up something super quick so that there is something posted up on the 16th, and then post her fic for Daddy Daycare on the 23rd, but if anyone else would like to volunteer, you are more than welcome to. Additionally, if any one has any other suggestions or ideas, please come forward and let me know, and if you've got any other questions or queries, please post them in the comments down below- I'll do my best to help out.
Once we've figured out what is happening, I'm going to write up a new final posting roster and put it up, which will then be posted on tumblr to help drum up readers for the voting period, but before I can do that, I need to figure out what the schedule is once and for all.
I'd also like to apologise for how messy things are getting; as event moderator, it's my job to keep things organised, and I think I've dropped the ball a bit on that. (Or something. Sports metaphors are not my strong suit.) Hopefully, we can smooth things out so that posting goes as planned for both teams, and we all have fun reading all of the wonderful fic that will be posted up!
