Ready, Steady, waiiiiiiiit a minute . . .

 

Now that we have the first-call writers and pinch-hitters for each team in place, it's time to put up the prompts!

 

Before you jump right in, please consider the following:

• Claiming a prompt doesn't mean it's yours and you can start writing immediately: work with the rest of your team to make sure that every writer has a prompt that they can write with. Some people will feel like they can only work with one, some will feel open to multiple prompts. Make sure you specify if you're open to multiple prompt options when you state your preference, and we encourage everyone to be a team player.

• Please also specify if there is any day during the week of August 1st – August 7th that you would definitely NOT be able to post your fic due to prior obligations (school orientation, work project, etc). We want the posting dates to work for everyone as best as possible!

• Your moderators are here to help with solutions if your team gets stuck in communication and can't decide who is taking which prompt. Just ask us if you would like us to step in and help out.

• Once your team is satisfied with which writer is taking which prompt, your moderators will announce the official team roster, and announce which prompts will fall on what days. This is also when we will announce which coach has been assigned to work with you! We will deliver this post on Sunday, July 3rd. This means that your writing period officially begins on Monday, July 4th.

OKAY THEN, without further ado, here are this year's prompts!

 

1. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it (This one is somewhat self-explanatory.)

2.These are not the droids you’re looking for (It’s a funny prompt, but does not necessarily have to be a humor piece.  For those who are looking for a sci-fi orientated prompt!)

3. There is honor among thieves (Go crazy!)

4. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread (This generally implies that someone is a reckless idiot for putting themselves in a situation that anyone could see wasn’t going to be good… except maybe sometimes the ‘fool’ was the only one who could see it was the right thing.)

5. Fantastic beasts and where to find them (Again, go crazy, use any supernatural/fantasy idea you like)

6. Twenty thousand leagues under the sea (This could be fantasy, steampunk, historical, modern, canon, anything!)

7. The Eleventh Hour (The eleventh hour implies that something is happening very last-possible-minute, and usually involves a dire situation with a hero trying to pull everyone out of it.)

My first choices are, in order, "fantastic beasts," "history," and "eleventh hour," but I am willing to negotiate!

Edit (2:04 PM PST): After some brainstorming, I've got an idea I'm really into for "fantastic beasts." I have an idea for "eleventh hour," but I'm really gung-ho about the former. Also, I checked some schedules, and around the beginning of posting week I'll be moving from summer housing, so while I'm certain I would find a way to post my fic there is that.

I'm most comfortable with 4 but open to 3.
I'm not interested in 1 2 or 5.

I would prefer the "Beasts" prompt above all else. If not that one then I'll take "Honor" or "Fools" in equal measure.

I like 1(history), 3(honor) and 4(fools) the best, but I can probably work with any of them except for droids and 20 thousand leagues. Fools is my favorite but since other people are interested on it, I'm very open to negotiate

Ah, this is what I get for being on the beach all day yesterday. Ah well, it's meant to be, because I love sailing ships more than anything, can I pick 2,000 leagues under the sea??

Hi Team Light,

In the interest of helping out with organization, I tried to keep track of everyone's first choice and second choice, and tried to help you come up with a scheme that will give each member a prompt they feel like they could work with. Take a look at the below tentative line-up, and please everyone keep talking in order to be sure that it works!

Sorry to be the dissenting voice, but I really want #5. I may have jumped the gun a little (from seeing the under construction teams in the post), but I spent time last night brainstorming and I have a pretty good framework in mind for that one that I'm enthused about. But I can work with #7 if that's what happens.

That is easy to understand - when you sink your teeth into a great concept, you want to hang onto it!

That makes it a bit difficult, since you are the only writer who expressed an interest in prompt #7. But since bkaykoii mentioned that they are pretty flexible, maybe this line-up could work?

HELLO all! Dark team here!
I do have a family vacation starting 8/6 - so I will have to post before that time!

My prompt of choice is "There is honor among thieves", however, if I had to choose another, I also like "The eleventh hour".

The prompts I absolutely don't want are the droids one, the beasts one, and the sea one. Thank you guys!

I have a leaning towards 4 and 5, but there aren't any real restrictions that I cant do. I might struggle with 6 or 2. What are your thoughts, team mates?
edit: top choice definitely 5 though.

I don't know of a day that would be inconvenient so I'm super flexible there.

These all look so great! I'm happy with any of the prompts to be honest, but if I had to choose an order of preference it would probably have to be:
#5, #3, #6, #7, #4. #2, #1

Hello!! #6 sings out the most to me but i'm open to the others too, in order of preference: #6, #3, #1, #4, #2, #5, #7.

I'm on sem break till the end of August so I shouldn't have any problems with posting in that week so far.

Now that all team members have voiced a preference, I pea pod diagrammed this and k_n showed the highest interest in #7, Soto in #6, Aqua with #2.. While Ponta and Flypaw equally seemed interested in #5. #3 and #4 were all pretty interested in....and #1 less so. Just a suggestion, but how does, Ponta get #5, Flypaw gets their other high interest #3, Aithi can have #4, and I'll take #1 sound??? Any other ideas or suggestions?
