Final Check-in & Updated Schedule

Hi all,

We are sad to announce that one more writer had to drop out, but are excited for the opportunity to have pinch-hitter thecicada stepping up to bat!

This is a last-minute schedule adjustment, which moves the prompt 'Fantastic Beasts' to the end, and moves some other prompts ahead one day. Please carefully check your current place on the schedule, and alert us right away of any conflicts.

This post is considered your final and mandatory check-in. We need your confirmation on two things:

1) ’I am ready/nearly ready for my posting date as it appears on this updated schedule’ or ‘I really need help before my posting date, here is why.’
2) ’I would have no problem if the coaches could score fics, as long as they don’t score writers they worked with or the writers doing the same prompts on the other team,’ or ‘I would feel more comfortable if the coaches refrained from voting.’ Please note, we will go with 'the majority rules' on this decision. We the moderators would love to have the coaches reading and scoring fics along with the other readers, but want to make sure we take the writers’ opinions into consideration.

If anyone is feeling too pressured, and is very concerned about being ready for their posting date, please let us know! It is possible for us to keep working and making slight schedule adjustments if anyone is feeling stressed out. We want a happy, comfortable, excited team of writers.
If we do not hear from you as a reply to this post by the end of the day on Friday, we will have no choice but to assume that you have been eaten by a Wild Mokona, or tripped and fell into Pokemon Go and can’t get out, and we will look for a pinch-hitter to replace you.

So therefore, please leave a comment below and don't forget to respond to both points raised above.

1) That is a wonderful schedule. That is an amazing schedule. I'm going to have to really put the pedal to the metal (I have a good chunk left to write), but my summer classes have ended, leaving me a week with literally nothing else to do. So I believe I'll be fine! :~)

As long as it is officially the first of August somewhere in the world, you are welcome to post. You have until midnight PST on the 1st to get your story up, so you have a whole 24-hour window to work with.

As mentioned elsewhere, you can begin posting as long as it is the 1st of August somewhere in the world, and you have all the way up until midnight PST (California time) to get your story posted and formatted.

no worries, you're not late! Everyone has until midnight Pacific time to respond to this post.

This is the same schedule requirement that we will have for your fic posting date! As long as it is uploaded to DW (using the official formatting guidelines, of course) by midnight PST, then you are good to go.

1) I think I was previously scheduled to post on the 5th and have maneuvered my work schedule around this so I have the 4th off to do final editing and revisions so I'm not pressured. That's the last completely free day I will have to work on my fic and I was counting on it. If the schedule can't be changed I should be able to post but I'm going to feel the pressure and the fic will most likely suffer for it.

I can certainly understand why you were counting on having that day, and we would like to work with you on this. Don't forget, you are able to work on your fic up until midnight PST on the 4th according to the rules. (Although for the record, we do not require or recommend, nor specifically encourage that you stay up that late just to work on a fic). 1) I'm nearly ready! In between balancing SASO's second main round team submission (this Monday) and this event, I miraculously managed to get 3/4 done, so just a bit more clutch writing+editing ;;u;;

Okay! Schedule change - I can work with that. I will change the alarm in my phone. Luckily, being in Aus, it will still be a Saturday when I post, which is good because I work extra long hours on Fridays :D

1) I'm over the half-way point of a decently sized fic, so I expect I will be finished and ready to post by my date. I may have to step up the writing a bit, as I was expecting to have a two or so full days spare to edit, and so I will concentrate harder on getting more written this weekend. However, I have no doubt I will complete my fic on time.

(If you see me on the internet on Sunday, tell me off and tell me to get back to writing!)

2) I am comfortable with the coaches voting, with the caveat of no voting for fics they may have coached for. I'm not sure about voting for the corresponding fic from the other team, but if other people are comfortable with it, I would be okay with it. As a coach and a writer, obviously I won't be voting, seeing as the writing bit takes precedence, but I would be happy with all the other coaches who were non-participants voting. Honestly, the more voters the better, especially for the fics posted later in the schedule - previous years show less people vote on those.

3) Out of interest, how long is the voting period this year for readers? I get the feeling a few of this year's fics are going to be on the longish side, so they may need a bit of extra time to read them.

1. (Should I even answer this one? ahaha) I have a week and I have a beginning written - so! All good. I would definitely be interested in having a coach beta the fic once it's done, though, since it's going to be a tight squeeze and I'm not confident in my ability to spot dumb mistakes under pressure.

2. Don't know if my vote counts here since I'm entering so late, but I would be very interested to see individual scoring/feedback from the coaches at the end, if the majority is fine with it and all caveats are considered.

Sorry I'm late!

1) I will be ready on Wednesday to post. I'm in the process of editing and writing my second draft, and so I will have to work hard, but I have this weekend, and a couple of open afternoons on M and T. So, we'll be fine.

2) I have no problem with coaches scoring the fics, as long as they don't score their writers and the same prompt on the other team. Same as a lot of people I guess.
