2. How well did this fic handle the prompt? (1-10) 8. I understand the idea of gossip being foolish when kurogane is more of a seeing is believing type, but it didn't quiet fit the original saying. There wasn't much darkness either, since kurogane was shutting rumors better quick and their journey wasn't hindered much.
3. How much did you enjoy this fic overall? (1-10) 9.5 I just wish there was more! The imagery is very beautiful.

7 - Your intent must have been too abstract for me, I guess! I didn't really see the entire prompt within it, not much explanation of "angels fear[ing] to tread". And sadly not a whole lotta Team Dark going on.

9 - I love post-canon Nihon fics! Especially ones dealing with the very likely reality that people would distrust and fear Fai as an outsider. Thanks for writing!

I just want to thank you first for writing a fic were Fai can show off his awesome, badass magic skills and being completely able to take control of a situation, to be able to save himself!

1. How in-character was this fic?
I thought this was very in character. Kurogane not caring how people perceive him but not taking shit when it is about his loved ones. Fai finding his own solutions that are not obvious to outsiders.

Wow, I never knew the whole, original context of the quote! With that in mind I felt you perfectly achieved the prompt but for the theme of 'dark' I am not sure it was really addressed?

I enjoyed it a lot! I loved the pacing and the totally believable banter between the two! You are great at world building in such a short fic. That being said I am also glad you wrote a short story too, you said all that you needed to share to get the point across and succinctly too!

I get what you were trying to do but it didn't really work for me as far as filling the prompt and being a part of Team Dark. I think if the story was a bit longer you could embellish the prompt aspects more efficiently.

3. How much did you enjoy this fic overall? 9.5
It was a very realistic, wonderful short story. I can easily see this story actually happening in cannon. It was just a little too short/simple for me to give full points. The story just seems to be missing some “oomph”, if that makes any sense. I also feel I should mention that your writing style is very pleasant to read.

This was so so beautifully written! It's stunningly visceral and it packs a real emotional punch for such a small package. Absolutely loved the flow of this fic, the quiet moments that were shown, and it was a delightful foray into Kurogane's headspace!
