2018 KuroFai Olympics - Expression of Interest?

Ladies, gents and esteemed enbies, there's been a little chatter about this year's (potential) Olympics on tumblr, and so as your friendly mod, I thought I'd put up a expression of interest post.

As of this moment, there are no dates or anything, no theme, and no one to mod it - but you are more than welcome to chime in with suggestions for any of the above.

Please keep in mind we're an international community, and that we should try to come up with a calendar that accommodates everyone if any potential times are proposed.

For now, this is just a 'please indicate if you'd be interested in joining in' post, and hopefully we can get the ball rolling on a discussion. The Olympics are a lot of work to organise, but they're a lot of fun, and it would be fantastic to keep the contest running well into a decade of fandom tradition!

My job is fairly demanding this summer, but I'm sure I can muster up the energy to write. I'd love to participate.

I actually had a few ideas for teams last night (Fire vs. Ice, and it's been a while since we did Canon vs. AU...)

It doesn't feel right not to have the Olympics. And I'd of course be writing for them! Some team themes that would be fun I think could be Day vs Night, Sky vs Sea, Water vs Fire. Not terribly creative I'll admit but hey, it's the fics that are supposed to be creative.

Actually, it's much better to have a simple theme - it means the writers can be more creative too! Day vs. Night sounds interesting, but Sky vs. Sea and Water vs. Fire really speak to me :D

Actually, I had some ideas for themes, my suggestions are:

- Modern vs. Antique/rustic (or vintage/old-fashoned can be the word to describe an older era maybe (?))

- Novel (something inspired in a book novel) vs. Fairytale/legend

- Steampunk vs. Vintage

- Occidental/european vs. Oriental/eastern

- Peace vs. War

- School vs. Work

- Children vs. Adults

Those are my ideas, can't wait for the Kurofay Olympics :D

I'd love to try and participate? I'm super late to the fandom participation-wise but I've read all the past fics and adore them so much, it'd be fun to take part or at least encourage people who are writing for it!

I think we'd keep it as a writing event, in the spirit of the Olympics so far :) That said, you're welcome to draw art based on the (eventual) theme and prompts if you like!

Thinking more over it, as much as I love writing fic, being the Mod was less stress on me so Yes, I'll gladly be a Mod again.

June/July, I think most folks would be no longer in school and well fulltime/part time workers still gotta work but perhaps have their work schedules.

July or August to give mods enough time to prepare and also because people might be more free during the summer?
