Kuro/Fai Spring Olympics!

Spring is coming up fast, with the spring equinox just days away. Since the fandom has been a little quiet recently, I thought it would be a good time to bring back the Kuro/Fai Olympics.

Some of you may remember last year's Fluff Vs. Angst Olympics, where teams of magificent authors squared off to see whether Fluff or Angst was the prevailing force within the Kuro/Fai fandom. Whether you participated last year and would like to again, or didn't get a chance to participate but would like to now, read on!

This year, things will be a little different. Instead of Fluff Vs. Angst, I thought we could look at another popular set of themes within the fandom... that's right, Canon vs. AU! Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles blessed us with a very open-ended story structure, which lets us create all sorts of fun new worlds or even cross it over with other series, all without breaking the canon. But that doesn't stop people from coming up with their own, often wonderful Alternate Universe fics! If pitted against each other, which will win... the Canon, or the Alternate Universe?

Before we begin, I'd like to see how many people are interested in participating. I hope to get teams of equal sizes, four or five people or so on a team (though we could run with as few as three on each team.) You don't have to have only done canon fics or AU fics to apply... just pick the side you want to represent, and sign up for the team!

Once we have picked our teams, the challenge chief will (me) come up with a number of prompts, one for however many members there are on a team. There will be only one set of bunnies for both teams. It will be the challenge of the people on the teams to take the prompts and write their own fics to them. Ideally, there will also be an understudy on each team in case an emergency comes up and one of the team players has to withdraw.

The teams will have two weeks [edit: three weeks] of writing time, then the posting days begin. Each team member will write her or his own fic, and one fic will be posted per day of the Olympics. The audience will read the fics posted by each team, and then give points to each fic out of a scale of 1 to 10. Everybody's audience scores will average. (Contestants should not score the contest fics, but are encouraged to cheer their teammates on!) At the end of the posting days, when all the team members have posted and been voted on, the team with the highest total of points will win!

Right now I haven't set any dates yet; if you're interested but will be busy for the next few weeks, that's fine. Just drop a comment saying you would like to participate and when you think you will be free, and I'll work out a good time.

Any questions, comments? RSVP below!
