Hi, this is cantescapeclamp from tumblr I have never organised any fan event like this. What does it entail? If an organiser is needed I'm willing to try, but I don't know what to do.
I've sent you some info over Tumblr that includes a lot of info and a couple of helpful links about how to organize something like this. I don't have enough time over the next few weeks to be the organizer, but always happy to help/answer questions/provide backup!
By the way! If the event were to be hosted and organized primarily thru here on DW, there was a gift exchange in 2014. You can see how people signed up and put down their top three wishes in the comments. A good reference! See here
Otherwise if it's hosted on Tumblr, you need to do some more leg work to keep track of participants and communicating. It is doable either way.
Thank you. Farrenmaddox already pointed me to the same event. Just a question. What's the usual format/etiquette for something like this? My only reference is Yuletide when the identity of the gifter is kept secret and then revealed later. But in the 2014 gift exchange, people directly gave gift to each other? Also, should there be an AO3 collection? Thanks in advance!
Tradition for the last kurofai gift exchange and the bigger CLAMP Secret Samta is that the secret sanfa will post their gift and thus de-anon themselves. For example, in the kf exchange, around the time we were expexted to have our gifts done, we would make a post on tumblr and/or dreamwidth, saying "I did this for my giftee ___" So no need to work with something where everyone submits before removing anonymity.
As for setting up AO3 collection, up to whoever hosts this! It is fun to check a collection of works from a single event
Thanks. I'll float the question about AO3 collection then. I think it's more fun (+ convenient) to have all the gifts in one place too but AO3 is pretty fic-centric, so I'd like to know the response from the artist/graphic editing contingent. Another question if you don't mind: what's usually the timeframe for an exchange? More specifically, do I have to launch sign-up NOW if there is to be enough time for Christmas? I guess I can always cheat and make it New Year gifts too...
I would be interested. But plenty of time would need to be given for either, since I don't get a break for any winter holidays at work and life is a bit shit.

Anybody want to volunteer? :D
It would be fun to try to have a 'theme' for it or something, wouldn't it?
