[Fanfic] Not Quite Paradise (Kuro/Fai/Yuui, R) 18/?

I don't think we've posted this here before, probably because it's K/F/Y rather than K/F - but so far there's very little K/F/Y and a lot more K/F and F/Y, so let's give it a shot!

Title: Not Quite Paradise [18/?; ongoing]
Pairing: Fai/Kurogane/Yuui
Author: Co-write between [personal profile] mikkeneko & [personal profile] reikah
Rating: R
Word count: 10,711 this chapter (117,121 total)
Notes: "In a future where science and psionics rule the skies, and both are controlled by the iron fist of the Earth government, two young men make a desperate leap into the unknown in order to evade capture and slavery. AU, Kurogane/Yuui/Fai."

The master post of previous chapters

( "Just so you know, throwing tantrums and ordering me around isn't doing much to change my mind." )

I can't really reply to this chapter in any form of coherent review, because really.. the thing that's first and foremost on my mind is always: I WANT MORE!

But I nearly killed over from the delight of finding an update when I didn't expect one. I'm waiting for "Flying upwards over the mountain" (*catches breath*...man that is a looong title) and BAM you dish out this.

How did you even have time for that? The olympics are barely over! Not that I'm really complaining.

It's hard to tell what from the things Fai sees are real and which aren't. Obviously Syaoran is not an evil henchman of the Earth government, but the Mihara might just be a real threat, if only because the name is Clamp canon. I love the way he hacked into the system to repair Mokona and Syaoran's and Kurogane's programming resembling their personalities so much! And...and... Kurogane isn't going to just give up, but he won't keep Yuui from leaving the ship. So... is there really anything he can do, if Yuui is so hellbent on wallowing in self-punishment and misery for the sake of redeeming himself for his brother?
And the way Yuui is treating Fai doesn't sit right with me. He doesn't really know what's going on with his twin and dealing with him 24/7 is bound to tire him out, but this masochistic streak makes it also look as if he thinks it's just fitting and he gets waay to coped up in his own guilt to notice Fai actually...getting better. True, he doesn't make much sense until you interpret everything a little abstractly, but just disregarding everything because he's so out of it? The way he is treating loving Fai as a sort of troublesome duty right now, even if he doesn't want to admit it or realizes he's doing it, isn't fair to anyone. The hair cutting as well.. giving up his individual identity and merging into half of a slightly damaged entity is yet another escape moment. Really, the ways he manages to run away from everyone and everything on a confined spaceship where there really is NOWHERE to go, astound me.

Uhm, but I really liked the part with Sakura trying to figure out her vision and feeling bad about feeling a little jealous of the time Fai gets to spend with Yuui and Syaoran DANCING with her, with Fai totally not okay on this... so sweet! I just hope she isn't all alone in a space shuttle trying to track down the Mokona after they lost a fight or something...

Because if Syaoran is working on THAT program and she's urgently tracking something and all alone in the shuttle it's probably all the others she's looking for.
Though I wish Fai would fix Syaoran's errors or leave him some notes. And I totally didn't envision Syaoran as Bill Gates and being responsible for windows. Because that would make Yuuko responsible for apple. And Mokona a mac.

... Thanks for the update to both of you! And if you ever want to quit real life to feed my addiction and the way I'm growing accustomed to ALWAYS finding something awesome to read here these days, I totally wouldn't protest! *heart*

I'd hand out cookies, but it's BBQ for today so I only have meat and salad. Next time!^.^

Reikah wanted to get right back in the saddle, after the Olympics. I would have been perfectly happy to sit around wasting my life and not writing. :P

Yuui is doing his best, trying to deal with Fai and everything else at the same time, but he's really not coping as well as he thinks. ^^; Instead he's put himself into this martyr mentality where he has to suffer for Fai's own sake, never thinking about the fact that he's really not helping Fai by fucking himself up like this! Plus, Yuui/Fai ALWAYS finds a way to run away, wherever they are. XD

...is it mean to say that I'm always happy when readers don't immediately guess what my foreshadowing is hinting at? XD It would be boring if it were too obvious!

Thanks for reading and commenting :)
