Author's notes: This was written as a gift for Ryssa for the Tsubasa welcome-back gift fic exchange. Ryssa's request was "the travelers go to another world and meet Kurogane's parents, and maybe little Kurogane too." Hopefully this will satisfy, Ryssa!

( Syaoran’s stack of papers bought them entrance to a much grander lobby. They were issued circuit-printed badges with their names (which Syaoran had filled out, so as to prevent Fai from doing it) and waved to a private elevator. )

Warnings: Lots of dirty talk and awful jokes in addition to sexual situations. Also some violence, but mostly of slapstick quality.
Author's notes: 16,000 words exactly! Aha!
There are two jokes at various parts of the fic lifted from 'Oglaf,' bonus smutty geek points to anyone who spots them. There are also some scenes that owe a lot to snopes.com, and others that borrowed from the speeches of prominent libertarians. I think that's all the credits; carry on.

( Fai looked around at the picture they painted: one hulking black-clad ninja (with flawlessly smooth skin and enameled nails,) one wizard surreptitiously trying and not very well succeeding at concealing a sword behind his back, one teenage boy doing pirouettes on the dining room table, one pink-eared muppet, and one practically prepubescent girl. This is probably the worst fic I have ever written. Not necessarily 'worst' in terms of quality of writing, but 'worst' in terms of... well, see for yourself.
( A ninja wizard, a magical automaton plushie, and a soulless artificial construction of magic who would later turn out to be his own grandfather, none of whom were currently in possession of their own bodies or even technically their own species, walked into a bar... )

I feel kind of guilty posting again so soon, especially with the same fic, but I actually have some news regarding the Kurofai Olympics! We've pretty much decided we've gotten all the respondents we were gonna get to our poll, so I'm pleased to announce that official sign-ups for the

kurofai comm's 2013 Spring Olympics, 'Technobabble vs Handwavey Magic' (or the 8,000 alternative names for the same general concept given in that post) will be going up from the 8th-13th of February. This encompasses a weekend. The theme list will be posted from the 14th of February, and hopefully both teams will be decided and available to begin writing from February 17th. Fic posting will begin on March 10th! Disclaimer: I have never actually been to Kansas. There is a town by the name of Devil's River, but it is in Texas, not Kansas; and it's actually a perfectly nice little town full of friendly people. I just liked the name.
Notes: So after doing some research, apparently the time frame I was going for in this fic was impossible. I had intended it to be set in Kansas Territory during the Bleeding Kansas period, but that was in the 1850s and the first motorcar didn't appear until 1871 at the very earliest. Well... maybe FWR has special steampunk powers.

Summary: Kurogane thought that he'd made peace with his past, and left it behind to travel the worlds But a summons back to his homeworld comes from the source he least expects it, and when they get there, Kurogane must face the realization that he was never at peace with himself. Not at all.

( He will die fighting, as his father did, as his mother did - and so he raises his head, and his sword, and he screams out a challenge to any demon or god who cares to take it. )

Author's Note: All the thanks go to eijentu, who assured me multiple times that this story was not boring and I should not throw it out the window. This story is set between the Koryo and Jade/Spirit arcs of the manga -- in other words, it's very, very early in the journey.
