Headcanon ficathon!

Well, it's been a while since the Olympics, so I thought I'd throw this here as a fun community event (don't worry, this isn't the summer challenge/contest, I'm still ironing that out).

Welcome to the Kurofai headcanon meme!

What is a headcanon? A headcanon, for those of you not familiar with the terminology, is "An idea, belief, or aspect of a story that is not mentioned in the media itself, but is accepted by either the reader themselves or the fandom in general. If it is confirmed by the author of the story, it becomes canon." (Thanks, urban dictionary!) Examples might include 'Fai has terrible metabolism, his feet get very cold' or 'one of Mokona's 108 techniques is Vibrate Mode' or anything else you feel is true but never confirmed in the text. Not all headcanons are worksafe.

How it works:
  • You leave a comment with one of your Kurofai headcanons. You can do so signed into a dreamwidth account or anonymously, for those of you without dreamwidth accounts/with embarrassing headcanons.
  • Someone else will write a short story based around your headcanon, and post it as a reply to you.

In short, it works a lot like [community profile] clampkink - but for headcanons rather than kinks!

Anonymous commenting is enabled, but you do not need to post headcanons/stories anonymously if you don't want to. I'm also going to go ahead and label this post NOT WORKSAFE preemptively, so please be careful browsing where your computer access is monitored! Stories can be as long and short as you like, and as SFW/NSFW as you feel like, or, if you prefer, you can fill with fanart instead - both are excellent. For our rules on threesomes or moresomes, check the comm rules in our profiles.

That's all the nitty-gritty out of the way - now let's go ahead and share some headcanons!

    Unfilled Headcanons
Kurogane's father trained him the way Kurogane trained Syaoran.
Kurogane had a case of performance anxiety before he and Fai had sex the first time.
Kurogane is a virgin. Fay is not.
Kurogane takes particular notice of how Fai smells. Fai changes soap and Kurogane has to work up the courage to ask him to change it back.
Fai starts to experience some of Sakura's memories after C!Syaoran stores her feathers in his eye.
Fai and Yuui were born on a national holiday; this is considered an ill omen for Valeria
Kurogane accidentally kills his father during the fall of Suwa
Kurogane & Fai resettle Suwa post-series, and Kurogane grows his hair out like his father
Kurogane has a well-worn notebook filled with terrible poetry. Fai enjoys flipping through the pages and trying to guess which world each was written in.
Holitsuba - Kurogane and Fai keep tracking of whose on top with different coloured condoms. Fai steals Kurogane's in order to top more.
Fai slept around in Ceres (with men and women), but Kurogane is his first steady significant other.
Holitsuba!Kurogane hums to himself when he's in a good mood.
Fai is a creature composed out of magic, rather than human.
Kurogane's conscience sounds A LOT like Tomoyo.
Kurogane was devastated by Fai's 'good morning, Kurogane'.
Post-Clow arc: When Sakura and Syaoran went into the tube o'doom, they left their bodies as empty shells on the floor. Touya found them, and moved them into a long-term care wing at a hospital; waiting for their souls to come home again.
Fai is musically gifted, and every song he plays represents a specific memory/event from his life. Kurogane comes to realize this without Fai knowing it.
Kurogane is the worst boyfriend ever.
The other dimensional versions of Chi, Hideki and the twins live happily.
Fai was a virgin until he met Kurogane because Ashura-ou had some non-fatherly feelings towards him and though he couldn't openly have Fai he could stop others from even thinking of approaching Fai, and none dared to oppose the king.
Fai is uncomfortable with the Japanese way of bathing where everyone just strips naked and soak together.
Fai knew that he would live much longer than Kurogane and while traveling with Tsubasa!Shaoran has been trying to find a way for Kurogane and him to share the same lifespan.
    Kurogane is loud in bed.
Kurogane and Fai shared a tent in Yama; Fai felt dirty after being assaulted by soldiers and begged Kurogane to clean him. They had sex regularly after that.

This was wonderful; the writing was gorgeous and atmospheric (the lantern light, the contrast between the steel and silk rope…) and there was this delicious sensuality running throughout. It was like a palpable current beneath the text.

The other thing I loved most of all was the absolute trust they exhibit for each other. The pleasure they take in knowing that the other is enjoying themselves. Delicious is really the only word I have.

    And that last line... *shivers*

    [personal profile] misskirichan 2013-06-15 12:34 am (UTC)(link)
This was simply fantastic. I love that you did it in the '5 times' style. It really created a lot of emotional impact, being able to show the cornerstone memories of what Kurogane felt for Yukiyo, and how it not only impacted his relationship with Fai later on, but how the loss of his parents also made him reluctant to open up to Yukiyo initially.

We don't get to see a lot about Kurogane's training in-canon, so this was a real treat. I love that you presented such a wonderful look at Kurogane and how he was 'forged' in his younger years. I also really appreciated the detail about the ninja hierarchy and relating traditions you wove into the story.

Also, the way that you tied in 'Black' and 'Steel' was awesome. That was one of my favorite things about this fill. Again, you did such an amazing job on this. :D

Re: Flowers in Winter, Part 2 of ?

    [personal profile] misskirichan 2013-06-15 12:53 am (UTC)(link)
    I just… so many… FEELS.

Why are you so talented Faren? WHY???

Firstly, this line practically sums up Fai in a tidy little package:

"Ashura wanted him to become a mage, and he grasped on to that goal out of an overwhelming gratitude for having demands made on him."

I mean, holy balls batwoman. That IS FAI. The fact that he feels more comfortable when demands are being made on him. The fact that he's not sure how to walk without burdens. Not sure how to accept anything just because. He must always offer something in exchange. He doesn't know how to be FREE.

And the way you write Fai and Ashura, and the whole name thing. Oh god, the name thing. I love how you presented that. Such an important and beautiful thing to highlight.

Aside from all of the many persistent feels that are currently taking up residence on my couch (they are fluffy, and wet like my tears) I also love the humor in this piece. And the children… one of your special talents is being able to write teh' children.

Okay. Stopping now, as I am flail-rambling.

    Still… BBS!

    [personal profile] misskirichan 2013-06-15 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
    Oh my god….

    Nope.

    *Why Faren? WAIIIIIIIIII*

(will write something coherent when I can pick up the MILLION pieces of my heart currently scattered across my floor)

    [personal profile] misskirichan 2013-06-15 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my god I could not stop laughing. This was perfect and fantastic and TOTALLY what Kurogane would do.

I would love to be there while Fai explains the other thirty three. ;)

    Again, absolutely loved this!

I hope this is coherent enough for the concept to fall through, but too much Marianna Paige does wonders to a befuddled brain. I pray it makes sense somehow, so here, a second fill:

The human skin is a lovely, frustratingly delicate thing.

Its colour and texture are determined by genetics, health, weather, and circumstance. However, it is possibly at its frightening best when it gradually turns into every person’s epithelial diary as injuries come and go because every single blemish, bruise or scar becomes chartered history.

With that in mind, you could probably write a book about the numerous scars (some clean and straight, others cruelly jagged) that linger upon Kurogane’s skin.

Especially when you so happen to be the cause of their majority.

( he bears the imprints of your story’s pages )

    *

One night, you begin counting every single mark on the man’s body.

( title: How to List Your Past from Your Lover’s Structure )

There are approximately thirty-three healed contusion marks across his back --

( Chapter 121: When Your Right Eye Was Eaten by ‘Syaoran’ )

-- twenty cutting scars on each of his wrists --

( Chapter 137: When You Fed on Kurogane’s Blood )

-- one long, jagged, and ropey scar along the side of his torso --

( Chapter 163: When You Fought against His Majesty )

-- and a mass of hardened connective tissue around the socket of one arm.

( Chapter 166: When You Made Celes Crumble )

“ What the hell are you doing staring at me like that, idiot? It’s been barely 5 minutes, don’t you dare tell me you want to go for another round already. “

Your eyes lid, and a tiny, tiny quirk graces one corner of your lips as you lean over to land a peck on his cheek.

    “ I’m sorry, Kuro-sama. “

( you really, really am )

    *

It is on a whim that you ask Mokona if she knew how to make scars fully fade away.

“ Mokona isn’t too sure about that, Fai, but I heard that if they hurt, kissing them makes the pain go away! Maybe not entirely, but still! “

    Well.

You have got to smile at that. At the very least, following her suggestion will lead to some interesting results.

    *

“ Awww ~ Kuro-rin’s blushing! His cheeks are like ripe tomatoes ~ “

“ SHUT. UP. AND QUIT SNOGGING MY WRIST, DAMN IT! “

“ …And here I thought you were actually enjoying it. Have some consideration for my efforts, Kuro-tan! “

“ HOW ABOUT HAVING SOME GODDAMNED CONSIDERATION FOR PUBLIC DECENCY, YOU IDIOT! WE’RE AT THE GROCERY STORE! “

( but you still don’t know how to make things right )

    *

In the following world, a device unexpectedly catches your attention; it is rectangular in shape and has a flat surface that you can draw all sorts of things on as long as you used the correct pencils for it. What enchants you the most about it, however, is the way your doodles are erased.

All you need to do is twist a knob, and a mechanism within the device will enable a wiper to move along the surface, clearing whatever you had sketched before on it.

The child who showed you how to use it called it an ‘ Etch - it ‘ board.

You decide to buy one, and bring it with you when the group moves on.

    *

Mokona and Syaoran are delighted by your new purchase, constantly fiddling with it whenever there is time to catch a breather.

Your grumpy puppy is an entirely different story. He merely lifts an eyebrow when you make him try it out.

“ Spoilsport “, you say to him.

He stares at you for a moment before curling a fist, and bops you gently on the head with it.

    “ Perhaps. “

( why did he look at you with such pained eyes? )

    *

You find yourself playing with the ‘ Etch - it ‘ board more often.

( an enthusiasm you cannot seem to explain )

But something gnaws at the back of your conscience: Kurogane recently has taken a rather vehement liking towards long-sleeved garments, wearing them almost every day, and, even, to bed.

It makes you wonder of its origin.

    ( a change of habits you don’t understand )

    *

The answer, perhaps, is crystal clear, but it is just that your eyes shy away from it.

( don’t we all have undisclosed desires? )

    *

You have a new little secret.

Whenever it is late at night, and you think that the ninja has long drifted off into fitful sleep, you pull out your ‘ Etch - it ‘ board from under your pillow or blanket, very carefully peel back the long sleeves or the back of the shirt he wears, and place the board right above his scars.

And then, you twist the knob.

    Many, many times.

( back and forth the wiper goes, clearing all your sins )

You do know that deep down, it is not changing anything at all. The scars remain where they are when daylight comes and you have to go.

( and maybe he knows, but he’s just pretending for you )

    ( for now )

    *

One day, you’ll make it up to him.

You’ll kiss him feather-soft, and place his palm upon your chest, and you’ll say “ I know, I’m sorry, I’m not the only broken thing here, and I need you, I need your love, so will you please forgive me? “

( can you feel every apology within each thud? )

Though, most likely, he will just call you an “ idiot “ again.

    ( hopefully he’ll say it with a smile )

I hope it's okay that I reply to this prompt... I know I'm not nearly as good of a writer as everyone else, but this is also my headcanon so I just had to contribute.

    ***

If anyone were to ask, Kurogane would not hesitate to deny such a thing, but he thoroughly enjoys it when Fai tops. It's not about the sex per se (though fuck does it feel amazing), but about the fact that his blonde is in control.

A large part of Fai's life had been chosen for him without a moment's consideration for his own desires. Besides the given unfairness of his past - being born to be hated, watching thousands die, and so on - the mage never had the opportunity to pick the flow of events.

Fei Wang Reed picked the other twin, the real Fai, to decide which of the two survived (Kurogane was slightly thankful for this, since his Fai would not be here otherwise).

While Ashura's intentions were quite commendable, he never asked for Fai's help in relieving his curse. He didn't even let his adopted son know of his intentions.

Fai grew to love his companions despite his best efforts to remain distant. While this may have been for the better, it was still not what he originally wanted.

The first time Fai had a real chance at deciding his fate, he had to be an idiot and wish for death. Kurogane felt like the lowest existing scum of an asshole for ruining that opportunity, but he needed his moron alive, damnit! That was partially why he was able to deal with the emotional abuse the newly-turned vampire dished out for months on end. In a way, it was well deserved. That's why, after Reed was defeated, Kurogane made it his secret mission to give Fai every possible moment to make decisions, within reason of course.

During sex, Fai was able to control their tempo, speed, hell, even the amount of pleasure he gave to his lover. If he wanted to try something new, then they did it with only slight protest (to keep face of course).

Kurogane was fine with either top or bottom; as long as he was with Fai then the rest didn't matter. But if he had to choose, he would be on the bottom, if only to see the (adorable) look of pride mixed with accomplishment on a flushed, pale face.

I know there are a ton of unfinished headcanons but I'd like to share mine as well:

Basically, in Valeria Chi is actually human, and so her and Hideki are Fai and Yuui's parents. While their fate is extremely sad, their other dimensional selves have a happier life with their children.

I'm very happy my words were so vivid for you! *wriggles in delight* It was so fun to play with this kink (useful exercise for another fic I am working on) and I tried to focus on sensation and how to describe it, so I am very happy you enjoyed it so much~

Trust is the heart of bondage. It's the most satisfying when the parties involved trust each other so absolutely that one can give themselves over to the hands of another and know they are in a safe, pleasurable place. And I feel that Fai and Kurogane have this level of trust now, so they can do that for each other. ♥

That, and I think Kuro-sama really is sexy trussed up in red silk rope. *shivers delightfully*

So… I went a little angsty on this at the end. And it's kind of long… I hope that's okay?

    *hides*

    ---------------------------------------------------

The screen flickered from one scene to the next, accompanied by the sound of a woman who seemed to be in half thrall, half agony. The only moment she was quiet was when her mouth was otherwise occupied.

It went on like that for a full 20 minutes, and even Fai had to admit that some of it was quite creative. He had no idea that a carrot could be used in such interesting ways.

The movie finished with a flourish, a list of names floating down the screen as an upbeat tune blared from the tiny speakers.

The man shuffled papers on his desk, not bothering to look up. "See? Pretty straight-forward stuff. Are you interested?"

"Hmmm… I wonder?" He gave what he knew was his best come-hither look, genuinely considering the proposal.

"I guess," he said, hand running lightly across the desk, "the real question is, how much does it pay?"

The man nodded his head, and pulled out a cigar from his drawer. "Business. Good - I like that." He sat down in the oversized chair behind his desk, popping the cigar in his mouth.

"In this business, people are a dime-a-dozen. So it's best to capitalize while you're still new to the industry. You can do that one of two ways." He paused to light the cigar, blowing a fine cloud of smoke over Fai's shoulder. "You can ease your self in little by little--pun intended--by starting out with less, shall we say, invasive acts. You then work your way up to more extreme forms of participation. Audiences love to see innocence decay little by little."

"And the second?" Fai wasn't about to let his cards show, but he didn't have time to 'work his way up' in this industry. He--they--needed money, and fast.

"The second would be to do something so extreme, so over-the-top, that you roll in the dough immediately. It's not good for longevity, but it is good for a quick buck."

    Perfect.

He was careful to keep his tone even when answering, determined to milk this opportunity for all it was worth. "Well, considering that I'm sort-of between careers at the moment, why don't we go for the second option?"

He leaned in closer, adding in what could have passed for a conspiratorial whisper. "That, and I've been known to be a bit over-the-top anyways." His powers of persuasion seemed lost on the man, as he responded with nothing more than a slight bobbing of his head.

He crushed the cigar into the ornate ashtray in front of him and extended a pudgy hand toward Fai, a fine dusting of ash covering his fingernails. "We have a deal then. I'll have my secretary start drawing up the contract."

    "Fantastic."

"Just one thing… what do you want your stage name to be?"

It didn't even take a moment before he knew.

    "Little Puppy Kurogane."

Kurogane was going to kill him anyways, so he might as well have as much fun as possible.

The man looked at him with a confused stare.

    "Childhood nickname…"

    "I see."

"Well then, 'Little Puppy Kurogane', we'll start shooting tomorrow. You're welcome to bring friends, so long as they don't get in the way."

"Oh, don't worry. My friends would never get in the way."

He left the office feeling deliciously wicked.

    -------------

    "What!?"

Kurogane's reaction had been even more extreme than Fai had expected.

"No need to get so angry Kuro-puff… it's just a little movie. It's not like we'll ever be coming back to this world anyways. And plus," he gave Kurogane an unblinking stare, "we need the money. You know that. And if you don't want the kids to know how badly we need money, you won't make a big deal of this. Okay?"

Kurogane's face clearly showed that it was very much not okay.

"There are other ways to make money. Things that don't require… " Kurogane made a series of nonsensical hand gestures.

"Require what, Kuro-pooch? Men and women lovingly draping themselves across my naked body? Me, lost in the throes of ecstasy, unable to control my animal passions?"

There was a furious blush creeping over the younger man's cheeks, and he was twitching. "Stop! Just. Stop."

"Who knew that Kuro was such a prude? What's the matter Kuro-Daddy… are you, perhaps, jealous?"

It took longer than it should have for him to respond.

"Of, of course not! Who would want a twig like you, anyways? It's just…" his eyes darted around the room, as if the walls held some kind of answer. "What will the kids think?"

Fai couldn't help but laugh. "That's your reasoning? 'Think of the children?' Come now, Kuro-poo, surely you have more faith in me than that. I've already taken care of 'the children' and found something for them to do tomorrow. They'll never know."

    "But. But…"

Fai walked past him, sure to wiggle his hips just a little bit. "Might want to close your mouth Kuro-puppy; it's not very ninja-like."

    --------------

He and Kurogane set out the next day shortly after the kids and Mokona had embarked on the 'quest' Fai had set forth for them. If it wasn't for their utter eagerness and sincerity, it would have been almost comical.

"It's your fault, you know." He gave a sideways glare at Kurogane. "A father should show his children how to have fun every once and a while. You," he waved his finger, "have been rather negligent in your duties."

"What the hell are you on about mage?"

"Oh, nothing Kuro-pooch. Just glad for your company."

    "Hmph."

Kurogane had chosen to come with him. No matter how much he seemed opposed to the idea, he had muttered, "it's for your own protection, you idiot," before he slid out the door, back straight as iron. He couldn't help but wonder if Kurogane was already regretting the decision.

They arrived at the studio ten minutes early. A bouncy girl with long brown hair ran to greet them before falling flat of her face.

He and Kurogane both ran for her, surprised when she stood up with nothing more than a small trickle of blood coming from her nose.

"Hello. I'm Kobato! And you must be Little Puppy Kurogane."

Kurogane's eyebrows shot up in alarm.

"That I am," said Fai, feeling a small moment of triumph as Kurogane stood there speechless.

"Well, if you just want to follow me then…" the girl led them into the studio, tripping no less than three more times before they eventually reached the dressing rooms.

"Well then, this is where I leave you for now. I'll see you later though, on set." She gave Fai a thumbs up. "You'll do great Little Puppy - I just know it!"

She shut the door softly behind her, only to be followed by a loud crashing and a squeaky 'sorry' less than a minute later.

"She seemed… nice." Fai ventured. In truth, she really had been adorable.

"Kinda reminds me of the princess." Kurogane's mouth bore the ghost of a smile before quickly turning into a grimace. He glared at Fai, eyes flashing.

"Now what the hell is with this 'Little Puppy Kurogane' crap? You tell them to change it. Now."

Fai leaned back, enjoying every minute of Kurogane's discomfort. "Can't. Signed a contract. You wouldn't want me to go back on my word, now would you?"

Kurogane looked furious, but didn't answer.

"Plus, when I thought of a sexy, virile man who could drive both the ladies and gentlemen wild, I could think of no better name than Kurogane." He gave an exaggerated wink while the ninja shifted uncomfortably in his seat.

"So, when does this thing get started? The sooner it's over, the better."

    "Really? I have a feeling that I won't want it to end…"

Little Puppy in Paradise - Part 2

    [personal profile] misskirichan 2013-06-15 09:39 pm (UTC)(link)
"Now, Puppy, lift up your leg a little more."

He was currently sandwiched between two incredibly attractive men with one woman licking the soles of his feet. It was something new, but not unpleasant; he could see himself getting used to the whole feet licking thing.

    "And… take two!"

It was hard to explain, but the moment the camera was back on them, he became completely lost in the bliss of it. Knowing it was a performance actually made him more comfortable; no attachments, no emotions. Nothing but the feeling of skin on skin, the dampness at the base of his neck, and the delicious sounds coming from their--his--mouth.

But as the hours went on, he came to see it wasn't so much an act, but a dance. A dance of knowing when to come together, when to pull apart. Knowing when to give, and to take. It had become a completely transcendent state, one where his body was nothing more than a vessel for pleasure. When the director called out directions, it came from a distant shore, somewhere in the realm of the other, the place of reality, where everything was measured and everything was a game. This was natural. This was the only time he didn't have to think.

But he was brought back to reality by the glimpse of Kurogane. Through the haze, he saw his face. It was lined with lust, he saw it, was drawn to it like a dying man to water. But there was something else, something lurking behind his eyes. Hurt. Shame. Confusion.

Suddenly, the mist faded away. There was no more bliss, no transcendence. There was nothing but the stage, and the actors writhing across his exposed skin. He looked down and noticed that all of the people looked the same. These people he had joined with, they too were nothing but vessels of pleasure to give and take.

They wrapped up in the next hour, doing things that made the girl who had welcomed them turn bright pink, barely visible behind the clipboard she held in front of her face. Everyone else clapped as they wrapped up, the director nearly in tears as he said that their performance had been 'art, true art,' and that he had finally managed to capture the form of true pleasure.

They all shook Fai's hand, not seeming to mind the stickiness, before scurrying off in different directions to make a hasty set change as the cast for the next film began to filter in.

In the flurry of activity, Fai wasn't sure what to do. He felt vulnerable and exposed, like he had just descended from the home of the gods into the harsh realm of mortals. He was staring blankly at the room around him when he felt a robe drop over his shoulders.

    "Let's get you cleaned up."

Before he could respond, he felt himself being gently led to the room they had started out in.

He was guided to a chair, while the other person flitted about the room, muttering. It was Kurogane.

"Oh, hello Kurogane…" His own voice sounded strangely distant.

    "Mage."

He continued to look around the room, collecting a few items before coming over.

He pulled out a few towels, and began to wipe at Fai's face. "Can't have the kids seeing you like this, now can we."

"Mmmm." Was all he could manage in response.

"So…" The wiping suddenly became a little more rough. "Did you have a good time?"

    "Great time. Great time… yeah."

    "That's good."

The continued like that for a few minutes. The sound of towels and various wet naps the only thing filling the silence.

"Did… did you like it?" Fai asked it softly, somehow knowing it was a question that could change things between them.

    "Yeah, sure. Why wouldn't I?"

    "Oh. I just thought…"

"Thought what? That I'd be jealous? That I wouldn't be okay with you enjoying yourself?" The last part came out gruffly, and Kurogane got up to put the towels in a small basket near the door without looking at him.

It was true. He had enjoyed himself. More than he had thought possible. So what was bothering him so much? And what did Kurogane have to do with it?

    -----------

It was only when they were almost home--well, what they called home in this world--that he realized it. He took a deep breath, not exactly sure what to say.

"Kurogane, I…" Kurogane turned back to look at him, hesitancy hanging in the set of his shoulders.

"I… won't do that again. Okay?"

He looked at him but didn't respond, almost as if he was waiting for Fai to say more.

He was careful to bring his sing-song back as walked up and laced his hand through Kurogane's. "After today, I've come to realize that it would be way more fun to do all of that on a home video."

Another questioning look. God the man was dense. But as they walked down the street, hand in hand, Fai could almost let himself believe that it would work. That he could be open, and honest, and okay. That they were just one more normal couple with nothing more to worry about then what they'd have for dinner.

Even if that would never happen, it was fun to pretend. Just one more scene to add to his grand performance.

    ------------

They left the world less than a week later. The film had brought in a killing, enough to set them up quite nicely for the next few worlds.

Fai had even gotten a copy of the film to send to Yuko. He had a feeling that she might appreciate it. And who knew? It might even give Watanuki and that other boy some creative ideas of their own.

    Kurogane's an idiot too, in a way. They BOTH are and need to talk about it soon and smile and make up for it with kisses and cuddles and tossing away the Etch-it Sketch toy. ;_____;

    That was a lovely, original way for Fai to fiddle around, wanting to, wishing to remove the scars. Oh Fai. ;____;

Love this headcanon. Couldn't resist. :3

    --------------------------------------------------

There was nothing she could do, now. Too many people had borne witness to the the wailing of two children instead of the single piercing cry that had been expected.

She handed the still squirming children to the lady-in-waiting. The woman wrinkled her nose in distaste.

"Can't you…" she whispered making a snapping motion with her neck.

    "No, my lady."

Even if they were bad luck, she wouldn't have their blood on her hands. She'd leave that to someone else, if it was to be carried out.

"Perhaps while they were still in womb I could have done something. But my oath…"

"Yes yes." The woman waved her hand dismissively, having already deposited the children into the arms of a waiting servant.

"Well then." She gave a small bow and took her leave. As soon as the door closed behind her, she heard a shrill scream.

Someone must have told the queen.

She walked down the hallways and felt desperation clawing at the corners, its tentacles crawling between the carefully mortered stones of the castle. The news had travelled fast.

It was little wonder, really; every noble must have had a paid spy waiting outside the birthing chamber. Even she, plain as she was, understood that you had to start fast with the monarchy. Deciding who you would betray was an important decision, and one that started the moment a royal child took breath.

But now, the careful dance of betrayal and intrigue had been interrupted, replaced instead by a dangerous foreboding. The birth of two children signified not the rise a noble group, but the fall of a country.

She couldn't help but muse at the will of the gods as she watched the white and gold banners that had been so carefully hung being torn down as she neared the entrance of the castle. They lay in snowy heaps on the floor, the only hint of their intended glory in the small silken fragments that had caught on the rough pieces of stone wall.

For this was intended to be a fortuitous day; one touched by the gods themselves. It was the holy day, the day each year that they celebrated the birth of their country. The idea that a prince was to be born on such a day had been seen as a divine promise for great prosperity throughout the land. But to deliver not one, but two princes, seemed to foretell a different kind of fate. One that would split the country in two and watch the once proud people of Valeria fall through the gaping chasm.

Instead of rising, they would be swallowed up, lost in the fickle hands of time. She, her people, her country, they would all become nothing more than a memory, this single day the cornerstone by which all future peoples would remember them.

There would be no tales of the wars they won, or of the songs they once sang. Instead, they would become nothing more than a footnote, an entire nation neatly summarized by a single date and the words, "Death Day of Valeria."

    And Kurogane Makes Three

    [personal profile] misskirichan 2013-06-16 04:38 am (UTC)(link)
It almost seemed strange when he looked back on it, the ease with which they had slipped into... whatever they technically were.

It had all started the night he'd finally had enough of Fai's teasing and coy promises to actually do something about the raging erection he prompted in Kurogane. He had pinned Fai up against the wall, fully intending to make him keep some of those promises, when Yuui happened to walk in. Kurogane had waited for him to leave, horribly embarrassed to be caught mid-fuck, but Yuui didn't leave. Instead, he just sat there, hands folded neatly in his lap like he was at some kind of goddamn play.

And Fai didn't make him leave. He instead gave Kurogane a kind of 'this is how it is' stare, completely unashamed. He had even grinned, his eyebrows wickedly suggestive.

Kurogane would later admit that blue balls had a major impact on his decision for what followed that night, but it wasn't one that he regretted. While dealing with Fai was admittidly rather challenging at times, he found that with the three of them, there was an odd sort of balance. He would almost compare it to yin-and-yang kind of thing if there wasn't three of them.

Though if he really thought about it, weren't the twins technically one person? So the whole yin-and-yang thing could be applicable. Maybe. Not that it really mattered, but it was something he thought about at times. He had this odd need to make sense of it. Things were just too good--one breathe away from perfection, really--and he often felt that if things were too good to be true, they usually were.

But they had been together six months now. Well, seven, if you counted the month he and Fai had been together before Yuui joined. Or, more accurately, before he joined Fai and Yuui. But the point was, they had been together for half a year and things just kept getting better.

They had found a rhythm, not only in the bedroom, but in their day-to-day life. He and Yuui took turns reigning in the exuberant ball of energy that was Fai. They often joked, only to each other, of course, that they were the adults in the relationship. Which was fine with Kurogane--Fai certainly put that exuberance to good use in ways that made him salivate just to think about.

Yuui did most of the cooking, and had been more than happy to incorporate some of Kurogane's favorite foods. It had been quite the change, to go from cup noodles every night to a virtual feast with the twins.

He still wasn't quite sure what his role in the relationship was. He tried to help out wherever he could, but the twins would always look at him and say he was doing fine. He didn't feel like he doing fine, or doing enough, but he supposed that he had to give himself some time. After all, this was his first relationship. Even if it was a little different than most, he couldn't help but wonder if having a previous relationship would have made him somehow better for the twins.

The one time he had voiced this to them, they had simply looked at each other while identical grins spread across their faces.

"Oh no, Kurogane. That's one of the things we like best about you." Yuui said.

"That's right," added Fai, slowly crawling up toward Kurogane, "it means we get to train you just the way we like."

They had then proceeded to show him, very clearly, what they liked.

The thing that always struck him, though, was that there was never any jealousy in the relationship. He had almost expected to feel a fierce wave of possessiveness the first time he watched Fai and Yuui together, but he didn't. He felt an odd sort of happiness, wanting nothing more than to delight in their pleasure, even if he wasn't the one giving it.

He got the same feeling from them; any time one of the twins sat out, they seemed to have the same euphoric half-smile while they watched. It was a peaceful kind of happiness, and it was something that didn't seem to be going anywhere soon.

The peacefulness he had with the twins seemed to be leaking into his day-to-day life with the students as well. He found himself being nicer and yelling less. The students had also started to treat him differently. They smiled more and seemed a little less anxious around him.

If they knew the reason for the change in him, they didn't say anything about it. The only person to--loudly--comment on his relationship with the twins and the impact it had on him was the Director.

"Finally getting laid, huh Kurogane?" She would say it in a ridiculously happy voice while elbowing him in the side. "Good to get some of that aggression out, not to mention…"

"Enough!" He would glare at her and she would just laugh, walking away while singing a little song.

"Kurogane and Fai, sitting in a tree… along came Yuui, and then there was three!"

    "Director!"

The cackling wouldn't stop until she rounded the corner. Even then he could hear the echo of it.

But even if he did have to put up with the idiot Director, or the odd stares from students, or even the often annoying Fai, it was worth it. Because even if he didn't exactly know where things were going, he did know that he couldn't wait to find out.

Yes, red silk rope is definitely best for Kurogane. ;)

I think it's really neat that you went in with the idea of focusing on the sensation of the experience. That really came through, and it makes me want to try it at some point in my own writing to see how it changes the language of the story, as it was just so wonderfully striking in yours.

I'd be interested if you had any suggestions on how to focus on the sensory experience of a story without it seeming forced or over-the-top.

And yes, the trust thing is so true; the way you described the trust they had was just absolutely superb. *flails in delight*

Sending all of the good feelings your way. :3

I know they get a happy ending, it's just, it's just...

My FEELS. All of them are broken now.

But it's okay. Because I have soothing pets. *goes back to accepting soothing pets and hums gently, thinking happy thoughts*

Oh my gosh, this was simply wonderful. I have no words, only flailings.

    *dies of happiness*

This piece has such a gorgeous style; the way you capture the fullness of their relationship with these little glimpses is truly remarkable.

While all of it is wonderful, I especially love them looking at the statues of Ashura and Yasha and the enchanted quill. Thoughtful Kurogane is thoughtful. :3
